$1,381 towards $2,500

I'm helping Conscious Alliance raise $100,000 so they can hit the road this winter to deliver 200,000 meals to kids in need! As little as $.50 provides one meal, so just a small donation will go a long way in helping me reach my fundraising goal by December 31st.

I am on the Board of Directors of Conscious Alliance and its one of the most important jobs I have. Helping this amazing organization distribute food to families that don't have enough for 3 meals a day is so important. Conscious Alliance drew me in through its posters and its food drives, but I felt I needed to give more, do more, and become more of an activist. Help me!

Can you imagine leaving school on Friday afternoon not knowing where your next meals were going to come from? If you have kids- think about them going home on Friday afternoon with no meals planned until they go back to school on Monday morning. I'm certain that you all feel strongly that a weekend without food is unacceptable.

The need on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where we focus our efforts, is great, but I'm hoping no one leaves the pantry without food for their family this year. Your attention + contribution, NO MATTER HOW SMALL, will make a difference. I know you get hit up for donations regularly. But if you know me, you know I'm passionate about poverty + how it relates to hunger, ESPECIALLY FOR THESE LITTLE KIDDOS. I'm helping Conscious Alliance deliver 200,000 meals to kids in need this year. I TRULY MEAN THIS, even $.50 provides one meal, so just a small donation of $5.00 will go a long way in helping me hit my goal before the end of the year.

How will your donation help reach hungry kids in need? Conscious Alliance receives large-scale food donations (literally-semi trucks of food!) from the food industry. The money raised through my fundraiser will help move the food to where it's needed through their network of schools and agencies—getting the food directly into the hands of kids.

Thanks for your help!

Gil

The reality we're facing this year

This year, 1 in 4 children in the U.S. don't know where their next meal is coming from. Last year it was 1 in 6. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the need in our country has grown exponentially and families are relying on food banks, assisted meal programs and community organizations more than ever before.

How your donation helps
You can help put food on a families’ table with a donation to support Conscious Alliance's work to move food from manufacturer warehouses to communities all over the country by providing funding for food, trucks, diesel fuel, warehouse storage and equipment. With every $1 you contribute, they are able to use their resources to provide 2 meals to a hungry kiddo.

More on Conscious Alliance:

Conscious Alliance has been a reliable source of food for people facing hunger on Pine Ridge Reservation of 17 years. Through their food pantry and partnerships with schools, Conscious Alliance is currently a reliable source of nourishment for more than 50 families and 390 children every week on Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Conscious Alliance have distributed over 4 million meals nationwide (including Pine Ridge). I am on the Board of Directors so I've seen first-hand their impact. I've seen generations of young music fans get ignited through participation that starts from donating to a food drive at a concert (they've inspired 114,000 volunteer hours), and I've watched the organization build healthy brand partnerships that flourish in many arenas.

More on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation:

Home to 30,000 Oglala Lakota, Pine Ridge Reservation is one of the most financially impoverished and forgotten communities in the US; 97% of the population live far below the US Federal Poverty Level. Faced with tremendous health challenges, the life expectancy is shockingly low: 47 years old for males and 52 for females. Part of the health challenges stem from high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition; it's both an issue of not having enough food as well as not having access to fresh healthy food. It may appall you to hear that the Reservation, which is the same size as the landmass as the state of Connecticut, has only one full-service grocery store and no Feeding America food bank.
